Arrival in Quito, Ecuador

Hi folks,


We arrived in Quito lastnight, in one piece thankfully. Got lucky with a beautiful wee guesthouse after a long journey..lots of flight delays..but here we are, adjusting to the altitude (almost 3000 metres above sea level!), heading off to explore what Old Town Quito has to offer today.


Its a beautiful sunny morning here in Quito :)


Pics are of the hotel where we are staying; La Casa Sol, will upoad more lateron, cant be arsed with these tekkie things anymore ;P

Good man your self, It would take me at least 2 weeks to get around to updating a blog. The place looks amazing, good weather too. The cold is just starting to kick in over here so ye timed it well!

Anyway dont forget to upload a few more snaps and Ill speak to ye soon.

Link to picture album From Valparaiso it was a short spin back to Santiago, for a few days exploring the city. Hadnt heard anything great about it but it was a pleasant place, we got lucky staying in Bellavista, a lovely part of town. Took a wander around the main square to see the Christmas preparations..a big Christmas tree and lots of carol singing..all seems a bit surreal in 30 degree sunshine! Took it very handy on the socialising..mad expensive unfortunately..although wine is nice and cheap :)

Punta del Diablo, Uruguay

According to our good old reliable Lonely Planet, Punta del Diablo is one of South America´s top 5 beaches..so we needed little encouragement to stop off here en route to Brazil Pure heaven! The town is really underdeveloped..no ATM, a few restaurants and a supermarket and that´s about it! The place was packed though, we are hitting these places at the height of the summer...finding somewhere to stay was a bit of a nightmare, but once settled we could kick back and enjoy the place for what it is. A 3 night stay turned into 5 and could have been longer.We were in no hurry to leave the place. Finally tore ourselves away and headed further north to cross the border into Brazil, a few hours up the coast road by bus. The place attracts a hippy surfing crowd so beach parties were plentiful every night, lots of bongos and in general a cool vibe around the place.

Salar de Uyuni

Link to picture album The Salt Flats in Bolivia was earmarked to be one of the highlights of our trip...and it didn't let us down! The landscape is incredible...almost surreal. We took a 4 day jeep trip across the Flats and on into northern Chile. Most of our travel was at almost 5,000 metres high..
