Crossing the border and on into Peru

Spent a full day in Trujillo with Colin, a gu from Tasmania before the 3 of us caught another overnight bus [of the highest quality + comfort might I add..] down to Huarez..a much anticipated stop on our travels..in the middle of the Cordillera Blanca mountains. After 2 overnight bus journeys in a row we are taking it very easy for our first day here + plan to head into the snow capped mountains tomorrow. Such a shame to have only a few days here..its a beautiful part of the world.

Trujillo had a little more to offer.. than the rest of northern Peru so far...the ruins around here were well worth a look, even for those with a fairly limited interest in the historical side of things! [me perhaps!].

Ruins from an old temple...

Some of the art was really impressive..

Crossed the Ecuador / Peru border on Saturday, 20th....all very straightforward..and finally arrived in Piura, very much a "nothing" town in the middle of the desert in northern Peru, where we had to kill a few hours before getting an overnight bus further south and into Trujillo..

Goodbye to Ecuador...

And welcome to Peru...

Jealousy not abating...Again you seem like you are having a great time. Life here seems pretty run-of-the-mill in comparison. Just finishing up my weeks' holidays for mid-term and already dreading going back to school. Cannot see myself sticking this out for another year. Drogheda United won the Premier Division and Finn Harps are about to win the First Division, which I am sure Sarah will be very happy to hear.
