Galapagos...paradise!

Some interesting red crabs on the rocks...
A bunch of iguanas on the beach..yuck!!!!

We came around the corner on the bike and nearly hit this guy..

Turtles and cows in the field together..mad stuff!

Heading home after a hard days work....

Another iguana on the beach...

We rented a motorbike out for the day, yesterday, and went into the mountains, literally, to see the giant Turtles in their natural environment, seriously, they were on the side of the dirt track, not too nervous of tourists, it was like being in Fota without the barriers. We had to dodge them on the motorbike!
This morning we took a spin to the west of the island, yet another beautiful beach and a few mad birds..this guy had just caught himself a small snake for brekkie!

Shame about the clouds..but it was beautiful anyway!

This place is certainly paradise. Boobies everywhere, the kind with wings, giant turtles, and Sarah's favourite, the (spitting) Iguana (protecting his territory). You should really look this place up and what’s going on here, it’s truly amazing.

The day before we went to Turtlebay, but didn’t see any turtles, what we did see was about 300 Iguanas, they are maaad creatures. We had to be a bit careful as they all started to mark their territory by spitting, so w made a quick dash for the Salida sign in the distance, without looking like we were going to threaten them, which wasn’t easy I must say. We found a blue lagoon, which we later found out has a colony of white-tipped sharks living in it, jees can you imagine, there I was in and out like a yoyo for a cooling dip not knowing what was below. No wonder there wasn´t many people swimming.

A well deserved dinner!

On the walkway down to Turtle Bay...

Charles Darwin apparently came up with his theory of evolution here so lots of stuff is dedicated to him..here´s Conor looking like a tourist at the Research Station :)

Feeding time for the pelicans..the fisherman across the road from our guesthouse at Pelican Cove....
Another hateful iguana perched up on the rocks..my god..never saw so many ugly creatures!

Blue Footed Boobie..these are everywhere too!

The weather hasn’t been as good as we´d like, but that hasn’t stopped us from getting up at the crack of dawn and exploring what the Galapagos has to offer, and boy does it have places to see and things to do....only 2 days left so will be posting a few more pics then.

Hi Sarah & Conor,

Great to here (and see) from you!
Looks like yee guys are having a fabulous time...extremely jealous.
Natural history coming alive, eh: I always imagined that getting to the Galapagos would be as difficult as planning a trip to the south pole (and for scientists only). Yee are really reinforcing the fact that I need to get out and about.
Anyway, brilliant!

Look forward to hearing from yee again soon.

Best wishes,
Suzanne

He he! Loving the pic of the cow and the turtle! Is this the South American version of the hare and the tortoise?
